What’s the best way to communicate your message?
I work with clients to answer this question in the simplest way possible.
You might know what you want to say and who you want to say it to, but you’re not quite sure how to say it. Sometimes it’s the words themselves; other times, it’s about tone of voice or format.
I ask questions (sometimes lots of them), then translate your answers into copy and messaging that works.
How did I get here?
My day job is Head of Marketing Content at NET-A-PORTER, a global online fashion retailer that sells more than 800 designer brands, but I got my start in print journalism at Canada’s largest monthly fashion magazine, and have two degrees, one in psychology and another in law.
For the past 10 years, just as social media and the internet have changed how we consume content every day, most of my work now straddles the worlds of journalism and copywriting.
I love working with brands: big brands that have a strong identity (and need help relaying a message consistently all over the world) and small, up-and-coming brands with a lot of heart (and not always a lot of resources) – and everything in between.
A little more about me
Before joining NET-A-PORTER in 2017, I spent five years as Editorial Director at its sister site, THE OUTNET, and six years as an editor in Vancouver, Canada, at FASHION, the country’s biggest fashion magazine. I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, and have a B.A. (Hons.) in Psychology from Queen’s University and a J.D. from the University of British Columbia.
